Common Pitfalls NDIS Providers Face

Managing an NDIS business isn’t just about care: it’s about navigating complex regulations. These are some of the pitfalls we see most often:

❌ Confusion around GST rules
❌ Cashflow issues from delayed NDIS payments or weak invoicing systems
❌ Missing tax filing deadlines
❌ Poor record-keeping, complicating compliance and potential audits
❌ Overlooking deductions or GST credits that could lower your tax bill
❌ Hours lost on admin instead of client care

With Beany, you’ll avoid these mistakes and gain confidence, compliance, and control over your business.

Yes. Even if most of your services are GST-free, you can usually claim GST on eligible business expenses (software, insurance, equipment, etc.) as long as you’re GST-registered.
The ATO requires records to be kept for at least 5 years, including invoices, receipts, and participant agreements where relevant.
Many accountants charge by the hour and may not understand the complexities of running an NDIS business. At Beany, we keep things straightforward with clear advice and fixed monthly fees. We also bring expertise in NDIS compliance and GST, and can set you up with smart online systems like Xero (if needed) so your records are always organised.
Use this meeting link to schedule a phone call with us. Think of it as a free chat to establish whether we're a good fit for each other.During the phone call we will recommend the services that match your requirements and will let you know the next steps for coming on board as a client.
We can only work as your accountant once all the necessary ATO authorities and AML (anti-money laundering) checks have been completed. If there are any third parties that we require checks for, we'll need these completed as well.Once onboarding is complete, you'll receive an email inviting you to book a new client meeting with your accountant where you can discuss your business goals and ask any initial questions you have.
We have a 12 month commitment for our accounting packages. This is because the monthly payment you make is actually the total cost for one financial year, split into 12 payments as a payment plan.We operate like this to give you certainty about the cost of your accounting, and to smooth cashflow for your business rather than a big bill at the end of each period.
