ACC Changes for the Self Employed

These changes apply to those that are self employed and contractors that are on CoverPlus. This change will not affect those on ACC CoverPlus Extra.

 

Until now,  you paid your ACC Levies a year in advance and those levies were based on the prior years earnings….. . which has always seemed a round-a-bout way to do things.
Luckily based on the feedback they received, ACC have decided to change this, which will help improve the accuracy and simplicity of the system.

 

Simply, instead of getting an ACC invoice for your 2019/2020 levies now, based on the 2018/2019 earnings, you will not receive an invoice until July/August 2020 and that invoice will be based on what you actually earned for the year ended 31 March 2020.  Meaning you will pay levies on what you earned, in the year you earned it.

 

What if you have ceased trading or are about to cease trading? Let ACC know so they can make sure you are levied correctly.
